Why do I need to wax my car?
Waxing your car serves three primary purposes. First, it cleans the car's finish. Second, it leaves an attractive shine. Lastly, and most importantly, it protects your car's finish against environmental hazards like tree sap, smog, bird droppings and the sun's ultraviolet rays.
How often should I wax my car?
This depends on the environment you live in and where your car is stored. If your vehicle is garaged on a daily basis, your wax may last from six to twelve months. But if your car is kept outdoors in harsh conditions, it will need to be waxed much more often. As a general rule, light-colored cars should be waxed every three months or so; dark-colored finishes usually require more frequent waxings.
How can I tell if my car needs to be waxed?
The water-beading test is one of the best ways to determine if your vehicle is ready to be waxed. While initially rinsing the car, take note of how the water beads up. If the drops are more than one-half inch in diameter, or if the water forms "sheets" rather than beads, you need to wax again.
